We Jet-setted to Asia for this year’s Asian Street Market at SoMa StrEat Food Park! We experienced flavors from Japan, Korea, China, the Philippines, and beyond all at one event! We spent the day slurping noodles, sipping boba, dipping dumplings, and more!
Chef Tu David Phu from Top Chef teamed up with “Venmo John” from The Bachelorette/Bachelor in Paradise through a Vietnamese beef tartare and nuoc cham cooking demo. We offered a VIP ticket for a reserved seat, a sample bite, and a gift bag including bottles of sauces featured in the demo: ChiliCali’s Sambal Red Hot Chili Base and Red Boat Fish Sauce (combined $16.99 retail value).
Stephanie Wong Miss Asian North America 2018; Raquel Basco Miss World America 2018 First Runner Up; and Jasmine Lee Miss Chinatown USA 2018 guided the tour of Asia as event MCs. Proceeds benefited Jean Parker Elementary School’s P.E. and dance programs, so of course we had dance crews representing, and even a mini Korean Pop dance class! We had options like soft serve in a Japanese fish-shaped cone, a "Crazy Slider" with fried chicken and ice cream, and more.
